What Does Facade Construction Include?

Cladding facades in slate and metal has always been part of the roofing and sheet metal trade. The build-up follows the same principles as on the roof: water is shed rather than sealed out, the construction is ventilated behind, and every element is fixed to last.

Steinfurther Bedachungen carries out the complete facade build-up – from the substructure through the insulation to the visible cladding. Roof and facade therefore come from a single source, which makes for a clean result particularly at the junctions between the two.

Materials

SlateNatural stone in traditional laying patterns. Very durable, low-maintenance, and the classic choice for weather-facing elevations.

MetalTitanium zinc, aluminium, or copper – as standing seam cladding, cassettes, or panels from our own sheet metal workshop.

Timber CladdingSawn or planed boarding, for example as board-on-board or rhombus cladding. Warm appearance, weathers to a natural grey.

WPCWood-plastic composite. Dimensionally stable and easy to maintain, holding its colour far longer than untreated timber.

The Facade Build-Up

A ventilated facade consists of several layers that have to work together. We carry out all three levels ourselves:

Substructure – Load-bearing and battening framework in timber or metal, fixed to the substrate and aligned
Insulation – Insulation layer between the substructure, together with the continuous ventilation gap
Cladding – The visible cladding in slate, metal, timber, or WPC, including all junctions and edge trims
